Attending the UK Computational Intelligence Conference (UKCI) 2024 was an exhilarating experience for me. This annual event is a hub for sharing cutting-edge research, exchanging ideas with experts, and covering theory and application in Computational Intelligence . As a PhD student in the intersection of AI and quantum computing, I was particularly excited to present my paper, "A Performance Study of Genetic Algorithms-based Quantum Approximate Optimization in the Context of Power Networks."

The highlight of the conference, however, came at the award ceremony. To my surprise and delight, my paper was announced as the winner of the Best Paper Award. Receiving this recognition felt surreal, and it was a moment of validation for the countless hours of effort I had put into my research. More than just the title, this award motivates me to continue pushing the boundaries of what’s possible at the intersection of AI and quantum computing.

Beyond the presentation and the award, UKCI 2024 provided me with the opportunity to connect with fellow researchers, exchange ideas, and gain new insights into the field. It was a reminder that the academic journey is not just about individual achievements but also about contributing to a larger community of knowledge.
